CW WAS Request for a SKED

KH6OWL Darren Holbrook

Can anyone help this ham out? If so please contact him via QRZ.

Good afternoon!

Attempting my WAS CW, and of course the great state of Hawaii is still needed.

Looking for some potential leads as to some hams there who would be able to SKED a QSO?
I'm an extra, so full HF privileges l, but do not have the ability for 160, 60 or 15 at this time.

I'm usually free around 00:00 UTc and beyond.

Any help is appreciated!

73, Adam/KE8DNU

All,
If you have a Show and Tell, please feel free to bring it tonight.  Other than that, I have a Go Kit from the ARRL which I can partially put together, up until the Antenna.  Or if someone can bring a dummy load, I have two but I don't know where I put them.  Don't forget it's a potluck!  See you all there.

To all,

Attached is the ARRL SET 2018 exercise document.  The exercise will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon HST.

Please review and put together your own plan for your respective districts.  Develop your own ICS-205 Incident Radio Communications Plan.  Also, ensure you spread the word out to your members and to others who would be interested in participating in this exercise.  Though this is an ARRL exercise, it is open to everyone to participate.

We are simulating a situation very similar to what happened when Hurricane Marie in 2017 devastated Puerto Rico.  Oscar Resto (KP4RF), ARRL Section Manager for Puerto Rico, had made several presentations in Hawaii recently about what happened in Puerto Rico.  We can learn from him.  This exercise will be a worst case scenario for Hawaii.  We want to develop an incident map for this exercise.  Therefore, we want as many simulated messages to be sent so we can map it on each island.

We are encouraging the use of VHF simplex operation and digital mode, i.e., Winlink operations.

Again, I encourage the widest dissemination of this exercise information and encourage as many Hams to participate.

Any questions, please contact me.

Have a great exercise and have fun.

2018 VHF/UHF Grid Madness

wayne kh6in

Aloha,

Please join us for the Fifth Annual Hawaiian Islands Grid Madness, a
unique event for all hams in the State of Hawaii. It's Sunday, September
16th 2018 from 1300 to 1700 HST.

Time to finalize plans for your Sunday afternoon on the radio...will you
operate your base station from home, go to a pu'u with your mobile or
HT, or play the rover to multiple Grid Squares? Grid Madness is a single
operator event, but you can join with other hams -- take your radio to a
popular spot in your area, designate one person as a driver, or even
share a radio, each using your own call sign!

Don't forget to contribute your score to your club on your Entry Form.
Now is a good time to contact other club members and encourage them to
get on the air! Here's more info on the Club Award.

The idea is to contact as many stations as you can in as many Grid
Squares as you can, using SIMPLEX FM, 2 meters and 70 cm. Get complete
details and the info packet at http://gridmadness.blogspot.com/

New this year
:
• Challenge yourself with Certificate Endorsements

• Simplified logging - No need to enter points, score, or exact freq.

• Or, if you want to use your computer, get the Grid Madness Logger

• People asking questions? Print and hand out the Public Info Flier

• Log submission deadline -- extended to two weeks.

Pass the word to friends, clubs, and nets -- especially on Kauai and
Molokai.

Give it a try and send in your log. You will probably enjoy it, and you
will get a pretty good certificate. We really like to get photos and
comments -- send them with your log!
