EARC Evening Net Holiday Schedule

KH6FHI Joe Tabrah

Dear EARC Members:

There will be no EARC Evening net on Christmas Day or New Years Day.  The Christmas eve and New Years eve nets will be optional at the discretion of the NCS scheduled for that evening.  As always, if there is no formal net called, then feel free to conduct an informal net if desired.

A special holiday greeting of thanks to the net control operators for their continued services.

Best wishes to all for a safe holiday season, Merry Christmas, and a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year.
Aloha,
Joe

Renewal emails and payment link

WH7GG Keith Higa

Good morning EARC members,

We’ve gotten several reports of the member application form on the site not giving the response email that normally is given. We’re looking into the issue.

In the meantime, if you have applied for renewal using the renewal form and have not received the email, below is the link for PayPal payment.

(Please do not share this link outside the club as it is not publicly accessible.)

If your information has changed recently (callsign, address, phone), go ahead and shoot me an email at keith.higa@... so I can update our membership records.

Apologies for the inconvenience. If you have any questions please let me know.

Thanks,
Keith WH7GG

Mini FD 2019

KH6WG Skawamae Kawamae

To EARC Mailing List,

Thanks to all who came to share food, fellowship, good times and amateur radio.  It was a great evening with good old fashioned “talk story”.  While other parts of the island looked like rain, we didn't even have a drizzle.  It was a bit breezy and the  "parking" had a couple of ponds, but all was great.  Twenty something came and went throughout the evening.  Pretty good considering the last minute nature of obtaining our permit, 4pm on Friday, the day before the event.  Even at that, all we had for proof of permit was a printed email.  Hahaha.  Nobody even asked though.  Thanks to all who shared in the Potluck and especially for the home cooked meals.  All present at the door prize drawing got something ranging from gift certificates from Subway, Outback, Starbucks, Dominos, Chili’s, CPK to a Cordless Sodering Iron, an RPI, a Nano VNA, a UV5R (thanks WH6DWF for the donation) and the “Grand” prize was an Anytone AT778 transceiver.  Hope we can do this again next year.  Speaking of which, I have verbal confirmation from the FRA that our meeting schedule is status quo.  I still have to sign the paperwork, but it looks like we are good for 2020.  Seasons Greeting, Merry Christmas and have a safe, joyous and prosperout New Year.

Aloha,

de KH6WG

Mini Field Day Saturday 14 December!

KH6FHI Joe Tabrah

Dear EARC Members,
Thanks to efforts of KH6IN, the permit for use of the Moanalua Bay Beach Park site came through late this afternoon.

The mini-field day will be held at the East end of Moanalua Bay Beach Park in Hawaii Kai tomorrow, Saturday December 14th, from 4 PM to 10 PM.
This is a pot luck event, and a great opportunity for networking, and to work both HF and VHF from a site close to the water where propagation should be excellent.
Please come join us for a fun evening playing radio.  We look forward to seeing you tomorrow afternoon/evening!
Aloha,
KH6FHI,
EARC SECRETARY

General Meeting Announcement/Mini-field Day

KH6FHI Joe Tabrah

Dear EARC Members,
Steve asked that I post a clarification regarding his message last night.  His calendar inadvertently sent out the meeting notification.  There is no EARC general meeting scheduled for 17 December at this time.

The question of mini-field day is still open.  We continue to push for a permit and hopefully it will be issued in time!  Please watch this reflector for updates.

Aloha,
Joe

Mini Field Day - in limbo

KH6WG Skawamae Kawamae

EARC All,
A myriad of glitches and we still don't have a permit but it is still in the works.  Apologies but the permit, if granted will be for this Saturday, Maunalua Bay.  Stay tuned.  We have monies allocated for prizes, but we have not ordered any yet.  We will give IOU's for any door prizes we don't have on site, if the permit comes through.  Once again, apologies all and keep your fingers crossed.  You will all know as soon as we know.

Aloha and 73,
de KH6WG

All volunteers will receive

a Honolulu Marathon t-shirt and hat!

What we ask of our medical team is to provide basic first aid at the outlying medical aid stations #1 – 13.  Station #13’s Finish Line Medical Aid Station will provide, of course, care for our most emergent cases, a few of whom may be taken for further care by ambulance to the hospital.

We are looking for doctors, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, massage and physical therapists, EMTs, hospital corpman, porters, and so forth ... thus, any help you can provide in spreading the word of our volunteer needs would be greatly appreciated.

To register as a medical volunteer, please do the following:

  1. Register online at:

    https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2019HonoluluMarathonMedVol

2.         Review map of the race route; and

3.         Note shuttle information on race day.

4.         Volunteer Information

Please register no later than November 23.  If you need more time, please call me so we can accommodate you.  Volunteers will start receiving confirmation of their assigned location and further information by email on November 25.

If you have any questions, please contact me at (808) 741-5854 or email me at honolulumarathonMED@... CALLING or TEXTING is a better form of communication for me.  Thank you for considering this volunteer opportunity.

Re: Honolulu Marathon 2019 - Volunteers Wanted !!

KH6OWL Darren Holbrook

To All;

SHORT NOTICE HELP NEEDED

I have KITV willing to do a story on what you all do for the marathon. Kind of behind the scene.

They would like to have a show and tell at one of the stations or close to it as possible. Show off the radios, talk about what you do and then demonstrate the radios with someone on the other end talking as well.

Can anyone be available today around 2 or 3 maybe around the zoo parking lot area and we can figure out where to go before hand but that is a starting point.

Please let me know if you can assist.

Again today, 2 DEC
Around 2 or 3 PM so they can get it on the news hopefully tonight.
Bring handhelds or portable radios to show and talk on so they have to work and have portable power.

Thanks
Stacy
KH6OWL.

SKYWARN™ Recognition Day

To all,

Please participate in this year's Skywarn Recognition Day (SRD) by sending in your simulated Severe Weather Report (Hawaii only.)
During our time on the air, we will take messages as noted below.  There will be no net initiated, just the Skywarn station standing by for the simulated Severe Weather Reports. We will make periodic announcements.

For Hawaii, we ask that you develop a simulated Severe Weather Report based on conditions where you are.
If you go beyond Hawaii, other National Weather Service (NWS) offices will be taking Real-World Fair Weather Reports and not the simulated Severe Weather Reports.

Please Note: If you have a real-world Severe Weather Report, we will take it.  Please be sure to identify it as REAL-WORLD.

  • Date: 12/6/19
  • Time: 1400 - 2200 HST (which is 12/7/19, 0000 - 0800 Zulu)
  • DEM RACES repeaters (if operational):

    • first name
    • Spotter number (if you have one)
    • location of observation
    • time of observation
    • Metrics (no guessing! No estimating. If nothing measured, move on to Impacts)

All,
The batteries at MK have been replaced.  This site hosts the EARC MK DMR Brandmeister repeater as well as the EARC 146.800 Analog.  PLMK if there are any issues.  Thanks in advance.
