General Meeting Announcement/Mini-field Day

KH6FHI Joe Tabrah

Dear EARC Members,
Steve asked that I post a clarification regarding his message last night.  His calendar inadvertently sent out the meeting notification.  There is no EARC general meeting scheduled for 17 December at this time.

The question of mini-field day is still open.  We continue to push for a permit and hopefully it will be issued in time!  Please watch this reflector for updates.

Aloha,
Joe

Mini Field Day - in limbo

EARC All,
A myriad of glitches and we still don't have a permit but it is still in the works.  Apologies but the permit, if granted will be for this Saturday, Maunalua Bay.  Stay tuned.  We have monies allocated for prizes, but we have not ordered any yet.  We will give IOU's for any door prizes we don't have on site, if the permit comes through.  Once again, apologies all and keep your fingers crossed.  You will all know as soon as we know.

Aloha and 73,

This year, the 46th running of the Honolulu Marathon will be held the morning of Sunday, December 8, 2019.  Once again, we are expecting over 30,000 runners.

All volunteers will receive

a Honolulu Marathon t-shirt and hat!

What we ask of our medical team is to provide basic first aid at the outlying medical aid stations #1 – 13.  Station #13’s Finish Line Medical Aid Station will provide, of course, care for our most emergent cases, a few of whom may be taken for further care by ambulance to the hospital.

We are looking for doctors, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, massage and physical therapists, EMTs, hospital corpman, porters, and so forth ... thus, any help you can provide in spreading the word of our volunteer needs would be greatly appreciated.

To register as a medical volunteer, please do the following:

  1. Register online at:

    https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2019HonoluluMarathonMedVol

2.         Review map of the race route; and

3.         Note shuttle information on race day.

4.         Volunteer Information

Please register no later than November 23.  If you need more time, please call me so we can accommodate you.  Volunteers will start receiving confirmation of their assigned location and further information by email on November 25.

If you have any questions, please contact me at (808) 741-5854 or email me at honolulumarathonMED@... CALLING or TEXTING is a better form of communication for me.  Thank you for considering this volunteer opportunity.

To All;

SHORT NOTICE HELP NEEDED

I have KITV willing to do a story on what you all do for the marathon. Kind of behind the scene.

They would like to have a show and tell at one of the stations or close to it as possible. Show off the radios, talk about what you do and then demonstrate the radios with someone on the other end talking as well.

Can anyone be available today around 2 or 3 maybe around the zoo parking lot area and we can figure out where to go before hand but that is a starting point.

Please let me know if you can assist.

Again today, 2 DEC
Around 2 or 3 PM so they can get it on the news hopefully tonight.
Bring handhelds or portable radios to show and talk on so they have to work and have portable power.

Thanks
Stacy
KH6OWL.

SKYWARN™ Recognition Day

To all,

Please participate in this year's Skywarn Recognition Day (SRD) by sending in your simulated Severe Weather Report (Hawaii only.)
During our time on the air, we will take messages as noted below.  There will be no net initiated, just the Skywarn station standing by for the simulated Severe Weather Reports. We will make periodic announcements.

For Hawaii, we ask that you develop a simulated Severe Weather Report based on conditions where you are.
If you go beyond Hawaii, other National Weather Service (NWS) offices will be taking Real-World Fair Weather Reports and not the simulated Severe Weather Reports.

Please Note: If you have a real-world Severe Weather Report, we will take it.  Please be sure to identify it as REAL-WORLD.

  • Date: 12/6/19
  • Time: 1400 - 2200 HST (which is 12/7/19, 0000 - 0800 Zulu)
  • DEM RACES repeaters (if operational):

    • first name
    • Spotter number (if you have one)
    • location of observation
    • time of observation
    • Metrics (no guessing! No estimating. If nothing measured, move on to Impacts)
